S. Korean Organizations Demand Japan Provide Equal Right to Education to Korean Schools in Japan
Pyongyang, April 24 (KCNA) -- At least 130 civic and public organizations of south Korea including the "Citizens Council for Defending Our Schools and Children", the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps and the Women's Solidarity held a press conference before the Japanese embassy in Seoul on April 22 and released a joint statement demanding Japan provide the equal right to education to Korean schools in Japan, according to the south Korean online newspaper Thongil News.

The statement denounced the Japanese government's continuous discrimination measures which exclude only Korean schools among foreign schools from the tuition-free program for senior high schools, terming it human rights violation abusing political issue.

Speakers at the conference demanded the Japanese judiciary authorities put on the brake the discrimination measure of the government and make sure that support and subsidies of local self-governing bodies are provided to the Korean schools consistent with the tuition-free program for senior high schools under the Japanese law and the International Convention on Human Rights and thus realize the equal right to education.
