Mothers' Emergency Meeting Held in Japan
Tokyo, April 9 (KNS-KCNA) -- An emergency meeting of mothers against the stop to the supply of subsidies to Korean schools in Japan took place in Japan on April 8.

It was attended by representatives of the mothers' societies of Korean schools in the Kanto area and Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture including Ryang Ok Chul, representative of the Liaison Council of Mothers' Societies of Korean Schools in Japan, persons concerned and Japanese figures.

Ryang Ok Chul in a report said that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan disclosed its vicious and sinister attempt to stop the supply of subsidies by pressurizing local autonomous bodies.

This is a serious abuse of rights of students of Korean schools and intolerable discrimination and persecution of national education, Ryang noted.

Ryang said the Liaison Council will together with all Koreans conduct protest activities for the guarantee of equal rights for Korean schools.

There were report and speeches by representatives of the mothers' societies of Korean schools which waged actions across Japan for the solution to the issue of supporting Korean schools.

A written request to the minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology followed solidarity speeches by Japanese figures.

At the end of the meeting the participants waged a protest action outside the ministry building against the Japanese authorities' discrimination against Korean schools.
