The Swiss Preparatory Committee for the 2017 Meeting for Praising Great Persons of Mt. Paektu, the Switzerland-Korea Committee and the Swiss Group for the Study of the Juche Idea said this in their joint statement on April 3 on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as chairman of the NDC of the DPRK.

The statement said:

Chairman of the NDC Kim Jong Il applied the Songun idea founded by President Kim Il Sung to the revolution and construction and formulated Songun politics as the main political mode of socialist Korea.

He turned the DPRK into a satellite manufacturing and launching state and nuclear weapons state.

Thanks to his noble idea of national reunification, two summits were held between the north and the south and the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration adopted.

The Korean people are holding him in high esteem as the eternal chairman of the NDC of the DPRK.
