DPRK Taekwon-do Players Prove Successful at Asian Championship
Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- DPRK Taekwon-do players came first in the countries standings by gaining the trophy and 32 medals including 25 gold medals at the 8th Asian Taekwon-do Championship held in Almaty, Kazakhstan from March 25 to 30.

The championship brought together more than 250 men and women players from 16 countries.

The DPRK Taekwon-do players placed first in men's and women's team pattern events.

The DPRK placed first at the men's and women's team sparring events and bagged gold medals in the men's 85 kg and above individual sparring and in the women's 57, 51, 63, 69, 75 and 75 kg and above individual sparring events.

The DPRK players returned home Sunday.

They were warmly greeted by Ri Il Hwan, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission, officials concerned, players and coaches at Pyongyang Railway Station.

They paid floral tribute to the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill.
