Japanese Institute Urges Government to Lift Sanctions against DPRK
Pyongyang, March 4 (KCNA) -- The Ehime Institute for Contemporary Korean Issue in Japan sent a letter of protest to Prime Minister Abe on Feb. 17 as regards the government's decision to slap independent sanctions against the DPRK.

The letter said:

The DPRK clarified that its H-bomb test was a self-defensive measure for safeguarding the country's sovereignty and nation's right to existence from the nuclear threats posed by the U.S.-led hostile forces.

It also made it clear that its satellite launch is a proud exercise of its independent right to use space for peaceful purposes.

We sympathize with the DPRK's assertion and view.

Firstly, the Japanese government's sanctions are a breach of the Japan-DPRK inter-governmental Stockholm agreement.

Secondly, they are foolish measures that can never be tolerated as they will blatantly encroach upon the national rights and human rights of Koreans in Japan and block every dialogue channel between Japan and the DPRK.

So we urge the government to immediately lift the sanctions.
