39 Species of Flowers Bred in DPRK
Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Floriculture Institute under the DPRK State Academy of Sciences has made big successes in its work for the past five years.

In the period, the institute bred 39 species of flowers, including 6 varieties of cosmos, and established methods of their cultivation.

It also made great strides in establishing the seed-gathering system of already-bred species as well as methods of their cultivation in all seasons.

The institute supplied a large quantity of seeds and flowers to horticultural units under the Ministry of Land and Environment Protection and the Ministry of Urban Management.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited the institute in March Juche 100 (2011) and called for paying steady efforts to the floricultural research and putting the cultivation of flowers on a scientific and industrial basis.
