Steel Output on Increase in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 3 (KCNA) -- Steelworkers across the country have turned out in the 70-day campaign to boost the production in hearty response to the joint calls published by the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) to greet the 7th WPK Congress with unprecedented labor achievements. One of the joint calls is "The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, the Songjin Steel Complex and the Kangson Steel Complex, add fuel to the flames of increased production!"

Increased production has been witnessed at the blast furnace No. 3 of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex by the devoted efforts of workers and technicians.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, in particular, has over-fulfilled its daily quota 130 percent from the first day of the 70-day campaign. Production of pig iron reaches over 110 percent on a daily average at the oxygen heat-based furnace alone.

The Chollima Steel Complex has increased rolled steel output 1.5 times year on year since the start of the 70-day campaign.

The same is true of the Posan Iron Works, one of Juche iron-producing bases.
