Milton Burbano Bohorquez, chairman of the Ecuadorian Cultural Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize a meeting, lecture, film show and other diverse political and cultural events on the occasions of the Day of the Sun and the Day of the Shining Star (the birth anniversaries of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il) this year.
