Rodong Sinmun Calls for Paving Way for Improving Relations between North and South of Korea
Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The north and the south of Korea should pave a broad avenue to improving their relations on the basis of the agreements common to the nation in conformity with the will, wishes and interests of all Koreans, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in an article.

It goes on:

It is possible to pave the way for improving the relations between the north and the south and a broad avenue to independent reunification when the north and the south respect and sincerely implement the three principles of national reunification, the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration which comprehensively reflect the general will of the nation and the validity and vitality of which have been proved in practice.

How to approach the agreements common to the nation serve as an important yardstick for judging whether one wants the improved relations between the north and the south or not.

The inter-Korean relations can hardly be improved by unilateral efforts and dialogue and cooperation between the north and the south would have been unthinkable without the implementation of the agreements common to the nation.

The DPRK remains unchanged in its stand to set store by the reunification programmes common to the nation and turn without fail the inter-Korean relations of distrust and confrontation into those of reconciliation and unity on their basis.

The DPRK will have an open-minded discussion on the reunification issue, the national issue, with anyone who is truly desirous of national reconciliation and unity, peace and reunification.

But, the DPRK will never pardon the treacherous attempt to disregard the agreements common to the nation and bring down the foundation of inter-Korean relations.
