Rodong Sinmun Raps Japan's Moves for Emerging Military Giant
Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- Japan recently conducted the second test-fire of SM-3 Block 2A now under joint development with the U.S. projected to be completed by the end of 2016. Japan's munitions monopolies started the development of multi-purpose helicopters with the U.S. and are conducting behind-the-scene project for the joint development of submarines with Australia.

Rodong Sinmun Wednesday observes in a commentary in this regard:

Development of ultra-modern weaponry worldwide clearly proves that Japan's moves to become a military giant have reached a very dangerous phase since the appearance of the Defense Weaponry Agency.

Prior to its emergence, the Japanese government lifted the embargo on arms export, the commentary says, and goes on:

Japan has openly cooperated in arms technology with the U.S. which should be put on the top list of application of the "three principles of arms export."

It is now justifying the arms export by breaching the principles which had proved useless. Lurking behind this is not just its economic greed to get its share in the global arms market but its ulterior aim to lay a new springboard for the development of its munitions industry and for reinvasion.

Japan has the largest combat forces next to the U.S. in the capitalist world. Not content with this, it is working hard to increase defense budget to the maximum, lift the embargo on arms export, acquire latest military technology and purchase modern weaponry. This is little short of openly declaring before the world that the defeated country and war criminal state is again rushing headlong into militarization and overseas expansion.
