The port takes an important share in foreign trade and maritime transport development of the country.

President Kim Il Sung made sure that Nampho Port was founded on December 26, Juche 34 (1945) and visited it more than 20 times to show bright ways for it to follow.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited the port together with Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese war hero, on April 13, Juche 36 (1947). After that he visited the port ten-odd times to indicate tasks and ways for building the port.

The port has developed into a reliable foreign trade base under the leadership and care of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu and it has successfully fulfilled its revolutionary duties for the past seven decades.

There took place a meeting marking the anniversary on Friday.
