Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- The Sci-Tech Complex has taken its shape on scenic Ssuk Islet in the River Taedong, displaying the stamina of the DPRK which dashes toward the high eminence of a technology power.

The atomic-structure-shaped complex, with a total floor space of 106 600 square meters, is a center for disseminating the modern sci-tech knowledge and information.

Its lighting and air-conditioning systems are based on solar, geothermal and other natural energies.

The complex serves as an e-library which stores in an overall and systematic way the sci-tech books and latest sci-tech achievements published or made in the DPRK as well as advanced sci-tech data from other countries. It is able to render real-time services to scientific institutes, educational institutions, industrial establishments and homes in the country through a national computer network.

It has also various kinds of sci-tech exhibition halls and sci-tech rooms equipped with touch computers, projectors and other up-to-date equipment to help its visitors grasp the principles and methods of science and technology.

Besides, on the islet there are a hotel for scientists with a capacity of 500 beds, an open-air study site, a fountain park, a tower symbolizing science and technology and a trolley-bus stop.
