Minju Joson Discloses Grave Human Rights Situation in U.S.
Pyongyang, December 22 (KCNA) -- A U.S. website recently reported about the wide gap between the rich and the poor in the U.S. According to it, the property of 20 billionaires is much bigger than that of 152 million people. There are also huge racial divides in the economic field. It was reported that the property of the richest 100 families in America is much bigger than that of all the African-Americans.

This is the present situation of human rights in the U.S. which calls for "welfare for all" and "equality for all," Minju Joson Tuesday says in a commentary.

It is axiomatic for those who find it hard to sustain themselves with scanty finance not to discuss dignity, creative life and hope and dream for the future as an independent human being, the commentary notes, and goes on:

That is why a lot of hopeless and helpless Americans opt for alcohol and drugs, finally committing crimes and even suicide. No wonder people call the U.S. heaven for the rich and hell for the poor.

In a word, the "protection of human rights" and "freedom" advocated by the U.S. are not for the majority of the toiling masses but for a handful of the privileged.

What merits a more serious attention is that the U.S. is causing human rights mayhem worldwide while crying out for the "protection of human rights" despite its grave human rights performance.

In disregard of international law the U.S. has unhesitatingly launched military aggression of sovereign countries, killed a lot of innocent people, indiscriminately wire-tapped heads of state and resorted to shuddering human rights abuses in secret prisons overseas.
