"State-compiled" History Textbook Opposed by S. Korean Teachers
Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- The Teachers Union of south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday and turned out in the second declaration on the situation calling for the withdrawal of the introduction of "state-compiled" history textbook and for the realization of democracy, according to the south Korean internet newspaper Voice of People.

The union said that the declaration has been signed by more than 16,000 teachers of over 3,530 schools so far.

Earlier, 21,379 teachers of 3,904 schools including the members of the union signed the 1st declaration on Oct. 29.

Speakers branded the present "regime" as a dictatorial one as it is setting back history and turning a deaf ear to the urgent demands of the people.

They stressed that they would wage a dynamic struggle to check the moves for reviving the "yusin" dictatorship and introducing the "state-compiled" history textbook.

A declaration on the situation was released at the press conference.
