Members of Former Unified Progressive Party Sentenced to Prison Terms in S. Korea
Pyongyang, December 9 (KCNA) -- The fascist south Korean authorities sentenced the members of the former Unified Progressive Party (UPP) to prison terms on charges of attempted rebellion, according to the south Korean online paper Newsis on Dec. 4.

Suwon District Court on Dec. 3 respectively sentenced the spokesperson and chairpersons of Koyang and Phaju regions of the former UPP to two and half years' imprisonment and two and half years' suspension of qualification and the chairman of the youth of the former UPP to three years' imprisonment and three years' suspension of qualification.

The court took such a fascist action upon them on charges of violation of the "Security Law", holding that they admired and expressed sympathy with the north at a secret meeting presided over by Ri Sok Gi, lawmaker from the former UPP, and they had enemy-benefiting publications.

It has been confirmed by the decision of the Supreme Court in south Korea that there is no "underground revolutionary organization" and suspicion of attempted rebellion.

This notwithstanding, the Intelligence Service and other conservative forces kicked up a investigation ruckus and sentenced them to prison terms on charges of "following the north" in a bid to justify the illegality of forcibly dissolving the progressive party and the confrontation policy against the compatriots in the north.
