Rodong Sinmun Calls for End to History of Confrontation of Social Systems
Pyongyang, December 4 (KCNA) -- If the north and the south of Korea make efforts to mend their relations on the basis of tolerating the ideology and social system of other party, there will be no insurmountable hurdle, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in an article.

It goes on:

It is nonsensical to build confidence, while standing in confrontation.

Defusing the confrontation of social systems is prerequisite to improving the inter-Korean relations.

Pursuing the confrontation of social systems is a treacherous act of blocking the nation's reconciliation and unity and building a higher barrier of distrust between the north and the south.

Two differing social systems have existed in the north and the south for the last several decades, but they provide no reason for pitting compatriots against each other.

The north and the south agreed to achieve the reunification by federal formula through the adoption of the historic June 15 joint declaration and promised to solve the issue of the country's reunification independently by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.

The inter-Korean relations cannot be repaired by the unilateral efforts.

Whether the inter-Korean relations take the road of a fundamental improvement or not entirely depends on the attitude of the south Korean authorities.

The south Korean authorities should not persist in their anachronistic row of confrontation of social systems but positively respond to the DPRK's efforts to pave the way for improving the inter-Korean relations by the concerted efforts of the Koreans.
