International Conference for Peace and Stability on Korean Peninsula Held
Pyongyang, December 2 (KCNA) -- The second international conference for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula took place in Berlin from Nov. 23 to 27.

Present there were the DPRK delegation and overseas Koreans, figures of various countries including Russia, China, Germany, Britain, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, the Czech Republic, U.S., Canada and Japan.

There were speeches on the themes of the structure of the forces in Northeast Asia, nature of security issue, influence of the U.S. Northeast Asia strategy on the regional situation, the issue of ensuring security on the Korean peninsula.

The speakers denounced the U.S. for provoking the war of aggression against the DPRK in 1950 and for having persistently pursued the hostile policy toward the DPRK in the subsequent period, too.

They noted:

The U.S. has blocked the improvement of the north-south relations and incited confrontation among Koreans and divided and estranged regional countries, while justifying its military domination and intervention in Northeast Asia under the pretext of "threat from north Korea".

The U.S. constant nuclear threat compelled the DPRK to have access to nuclear weapons and this resulted in the formation of the structure of nuclear stand-off on the Korean Peninsula, creating a serious situation in which even the slightest accidental armed conflict may easily lead to an all-out war, a nuclear war.

Such situation was created because the U.S. has refused to honestly accept lots of peace-keeping proposals made by the DPRK, rendering the DPRK-U.S. confrontation extremely acute.

The speakers demanded the south Korean authorities drop the policy of dependence on outsides and the ambition for stand-off and stop pursuing the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK in contravention of the north-south agreement. They also urged Japan to stop the moves for the revival of militarism that hamstring the efforts for peace on the peninsula.

The speakers stressed that the only way of removing the danger of a war and achieving peace on the peninsula is for the U.S. to roll back its anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK and conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK.

The conference adopted a declaration urging the conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S.

Urging the two countries to immediately start formal dialogue, conclude the peace treaty as early as possible and establish normal diplomatic relations, the declaration called on the participants of the conference to let the governments and people of their countries know the danger of escalating tension and that of a nuclear war on the peninsula and do their best to build up public opinion on the need to replace the Armistice Agreement with a peace treaty in diverse forms and methods.

The speakers also vowed to conduct the struggle for urging the U.S. to rectify its hostile policy toward the DPRK and conclude a peace treaty with the DPRK in solidarity with all the conscientious figures and organizations loving peace.

They said they would hold international conference every year until the DPRK-U.S. peace treaty is signed and peace and stability are ensured on the peninsula, and pledged to work hard to meet the aim.
