KPA Air Force Develops into Invincible One
Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the 70th anniversary of the air force of the Korean People's Army (KPA), servicepersons and civilians in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea recall with deep emotion the ever-victorious road covered by the Juche-oriented air force.

After the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, President Kim Il Sung visited the Sinuiju Aviation Association on November 29, Juche 34 (1945), where he delivered a speech "Let Us Create the Air Force of the New Korea" to indicate detailed ways for building an air force in the country.

Under his wise guidance, a first regular air corps came into being in Korea in 1947.

In the period of the Fatherland Liberation War, the KPA air force annihilated the south Korean puppet air force in three days after the outbreak of the war and downed a number of U.S. warplanes, including a "B-29".

In the 1960s, the KPA air force shot down the U.S. spying plane "EC-121", which intruded deep into the DPRK's airspace, killing some 30 aircrew onboard the plane.

Numbers of the KPA pilots fought in the Vietnam and Mideast wars, demonstrating the might of the heroic Korean people.

Some years ago, a plane of the KPA air force drove out the U.S. "RC-135" which flew into the DPRK's airspace, demonstrating its full combat readiness.

KPA Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un convened the first meeting of airpersons of the KPA and organized two rounds of combat flight contests among air commanding officers of the Air and Anti-Air Force of the KPA in an aim to develop the air force into an invincible one.
