This has proved to be an immutable truth on the road of independence, Songun and socialism being covered by the army and people of the DPRK under the leadership of the great party.

Independence is what keeps dignified Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea alive.

Thanks to the principle of independence consistently adhered to in the whole course of the revolution, the DPRK could emerge victorious in the two revolutionary wars, social revolution of two stages and socialist construction while frustrating the counterrevolutionary offensive of imperialists and reactionaries and the interference of left- and right-wing opportunists.

It is impossible to win the struggle against the imperialists and defend the party and the state and people's security without one's own strength and strong military muscle for self-defence. This is the hard reality.

It is our party's philosophy on arms that an army should be countered with armed forces and the victory of the revolution be guaranteed by the army. Its validity was clearly proved through the fierce DPRK-U.S. nuclear stand-off which started from the 1990s.

All the Korean people are united close around their leader in thinking and purpose, morality and sense of obligation and the whole society formed a large family in which all its members help and lead each other along in a comradely way. This is the essential nature of Korean-style socialism and source of inexhaustible strength.

Defending socialism means a victory and giving it up means death.

The DPRK is highly dignified for its independence, emerges victorious thanks to the Songun politics and is demonstrating its might under the banner of socialism. It is the beacon of hope for the world people aspiring after independence and the banner of victory.
