Regional Body Urges Obama to Conclude Peace Treaty with DPRK
Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- The Latin American and Caribbean Regional Committee to Support the Reunification of Korea sent a letter to the U.S. president on Nov. 14 urging the U.S. to respond to the DPRK's fair and reasonable proposal for concluding a peace treaty.

The letter said that the committee sent a letter for the purpose of putting an end to the Korean war ignited by the U.S. against the DPRK in 1950.

It went on:

More than 60 years have passed since the Korean Armistice Agreement was concluded.

The truce was effected on the Korean Peninsula but many countries of Asia and the world are torn with disputes in which modern weapons of mass destruction are indiscriminately used and stand on the brink of a very dangerous new war.

Not only the Korean people but also the people of the U.S. want peace.

Peace is very dear and the greatest desire of the world people.

Hence, we recommend the U.S. president to take a necessary measure for replacing the AA with a peace treaty.

The DPRK government made a series of proposals for replacing the AA with the peace treaty to the U.S. government but the former regretfully failed to receive any positive answer from the latter and the danger of a nuclear war is increasing on the Korean Peninsula quite contrary to the expectation of the former.

The U.S. president should behave himself so that humankind may be free from the danger of a nuclear war.
