Authorities' Moves to Introduce "State-compiled Textbook" Rejected by S. Korean Religious Body
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Justice and Peace Committee of the Catholics bishop in a statement on Nov. 19 denounced the introduction of "state-compiled" history textbook which the south Korean authorities are pressing for, according to the south Korean newspaper Hangyore.

The statement recalled the "government" and the ruling party are pressing for the introduction of the history textbook despite a recent opinion poll which said historians, civic and public circle and the majority of the people voiced opposition to the introduction.

The statement said that they are branding those standing against the history textbook as the "forces following the north" and the "leftist forces," a move to cause division among people.

The statement urged the authorities to accept the public opinion including those of the historical circle.
