Rodong Sinmun Urges U.S. Not to Distort Essence of DPRK's Proposal for Concluding Peace Treaty with It
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun Monday in an article denounces the U.S. for its foolish attempt to play down the DPRK's realistic and just proposal for concluding a peace treaty with it.

The article lays bare the injustice of the U.S. assertion that the DPRK's dismantlement of its nuclear deterrence is a prerequisite to the conclusion of the peace treaty and the black-hearted aim sought by the former in it.

The Korean war broke out due to the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK and an issue of concluding the peace treaty was raised because of that policy, the article notes, and goes on:

The reality goes to prove that it is a top priority issue to replace the Armistice Agreement (AA) with the peace treaty and thus fundamentally settle the hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. The conclusion of the DPRK-U.S. peace treaty is the master key to resolving all problems arising between both sides.

If the AA is replaced with the peace treaty, it will help terminate the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK, the root cause of all problems, and defuse the former's nuclear threat to the latter and create climate of trust and this will naturally lead to clearing the former of all its concerns.

This being a hard fact, the U.S. persists in its stereo-typed trumpeting about "denuclearization" in quest of its cynical ploy.

The DPRK's proposal for concluding the peace treaty is now being hailed and supported by broad world public. It is unanimous in asserting that the proposal is an important initiative for establishing a lasting peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean Peninsula, the world's biggest hot spot, and urging the U.S. to respond to the DPRK's proposal as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, the U.S. is shunning the offer, while working hard to play it down. That's why the U.S. is diverting public attention from this issue, deliberately twisting the nature of the situation.

The U.S. would be well advised to think twice, bearing in mind that adverse consequences may be entailed by its acts of turning its face away from the DPRK's proposal and insisting on its wrong assertion.
