Rodong Sinmun Blames S. Korean Conservative Authorities for Trying to Stamp out People's Consciousness of Reunification
Pyongyang, November 22 (KCNA) -- In south Korea education is being misused as a means for stamping out the people's consciousness of reunification through the alliance with the north, inciting hostility against the fellow countrymen and confrontational hysteria with them and dampening the spirit of independence and reunification.

Rodong Sinmun says this in an article on Sunday.

A row of introducing the "state-compiled history textbook" is an extremely anti-reunification and confrontational farce for inciting the distrust and hostility against the fellow countrymen in the north.

"Left deviation of textbooks" is the pretext the south Korean conservative authorities cooked up to introduce the "state-compiled history textbook".

They have become vociferous, saying the textbooks "deal with the Juche idea and Songun politics" and use words such as the "Korean nation-first principle and independent line being pursued by the north" just as they are.

In a word, what they mean is that the junior and senior high school textbooks "praise the north" and defame south Korea.

The racket of introducing the "state-compiled history textbook" is an unprecedented history coup to check the efforts to make the society independent and democratic and carry on the disgraceful history of pro-U.S. and anti-reunification fascist dictatorship.

The "state-compiled history textbook" is an outdated remnant of the "yushin" dictatorial era. The south Korean chief executive is calculating that she can justify her dictatorial rule, completely dash people's dream and quell their desire for independence, democracy and reunification and keep the pro-U.S. and Japanese "government" for an indefinite period through the education of youths and children in the reactionary outlook on history and the world.

No matter how persistently the conservative authorities may resort to a racket for distorting history, they can never stamp out the people's high consciousness of reunification through the alliance with the north nor could they stop the massive struggle to make the society independent and democratic.
