On display in the contest and exhibition are more than 1 200 application programs for Korean-style operation systems.

It will be divided into professional and amateur groups. Exhibits will be displayed by 17 panels including operating system and security, artificial intelligence and Korean language information processing and introduction of CNC system into production process.

Also displayed are successes made by various industrial establishments, ministries and national institutions in bringing their IT level on a high level. The events will involve diverse contests in foreign language translation programs, programs for analyzing sports games and computer-added designing programs.

Present at the ceremony were Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet; Choe Sang Gon, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea; Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission; Jang Chol, president of the State Academy of Sciences; and officials concerned.

Jon Kyong, vice-chairman of the State Science and Technology Commission, made an opening address.
