DPRK's Proposal for Peace Treaty Supported by South African Figure
Pyongyang, November 11 (KCNA) -- Bonakele Majuba, secretary of the Mfumalanga Provincial Committee of the South African Communist Party, who doubles as chairman of the South African Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Korean People, made public a statement on Nov. 5 in support of the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty.

He said that though more than six decades have passed since the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement, it still exists.

He went on:

The U.S. is persistently shunning the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty, pursuing its hostile policy towards the latter for more than half a century.

The only way of averting a war and defusing tension on the Korean Peninsula is to replace the AA by a peace treaty as soon as possible and establish durable and lasting peace-keeping mechanism on the peninsula.

We express full support for the DPRK's proposal for concluding a peace treaty and strongly urge the U.S. to put an end to the AA and make a political decision for concluding a peace treaty.
