The contest will be held in the Basketball Gymnasium and the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium from Nov. 9 to 13.

Men and women players from provinces will play games on a knock-out basis.

Present at the ceremony were Kim Jong Su, first vice-minister of Physical Culture and Sports, men and women players from each province.

Ju Yong Gil, chairman of the C.C., the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, made an opening address.

The opening ceremony was followed by a men's basketball game between the teams of North Hwanghae Province and Kangwon Province.
