Protest against "State-compiled" History Textbooks Unabated in S. Korea
Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- People of various circles in North Jolla Province have carried on a dynamic action in protest against the authorities' moves for introducing "state-compiled" history textbooks, according to the south Korean website News 1.

The North Jolla Provincial Civic and Public Organization against "State-compiled" History Textbooks made up of more than twenty civic and public organizations such as the North Jolla Provincial branch of the Institute for National Studies held a press conference at the building of the Provincial Educational Office on Oct. 29.

Speakers termed the moves to introduce the "state-compiled" history textbooks a sinister ploy to twist the essence of education and enslave the people as they are a history coup of totalitarians swimming against the trend of the times.

They demanded the chief executive immediately halt her moves for distorting history and embellishing the pro-Japanese dictatorship.

Members of the Association of History Teachers of North Jolla Province and those of the North Jolla Provincial History Society and many teachers declared opposition to the above-said textbooks and boycotting of writing those textbooks on October 21 and 26.

The Government Employees Trade Union and persons of culture and arts held press conferences on October 27 and 28 each in protest against the moves of the regime.
