Idea of By Our Nation Itself Serves as Invariable Principle for Independent Reunification: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, November 3 (KCNA) -- It is the invariable principle for national reunification to solve the issue of national reunification independently by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation responsible for it.

Rodong Sinmun says this in an article Tuesday.

The idea of By Our Nation Itself is the most correct one for national reunification the validity and vitality of which have been clearly proved through history and practice, the article notes, and goes on:

The vitality of the above-said idea lies in that it dramatically turned the inter-Korean relations of distrust and confrontation into those of reconciliation and unity. Its attraction has been fully displayed through the stirring reality in the June 15 era of reunification characterized by the improvement of the north-south relations and eventful achievements in the movement for national reunification.

The recent reunion of separated families and relatives and football matches of workers from the north and the south are the fruition of the idea of By Our Nation Itself which provided a good occasion for displaying the validity of the idea at home and abroad.

If the idea is shunned and its validity negated, the inter-Korean relations will hardly escape turns and twist and catastrophe.

The north-south relations which dynamically advanced after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration were deteriorated due to the south Korean conservative forces keen on the vicious moves for confrontation against reunification in collusion outsiders quite contrary to the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration and the idea of By Our Nation Itself, the basic spirit of the declarations.

When the above-said idea is respected and fully preserved, it is possible to achieve peace and reunification and when confrontation is sought while negating the idea, it would only deteriorate the inter-Korean relations and bring a war. This is a lesson taught by history.
