HE Kim Jong Il was a tender-hearted father of the Korean people who dedicated his all to their happiness to the last moments of his life, regarding it as his motto to believe in people as in heaven.

This was pointed out in a statement adopted at an inaugural ceremony of the Swiss committee for remembering Generalissimo Kim Jong Il held in Basel on Oct. 26.

The statement went on:

Kim Jong Il provided the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration, true to the three charters for national reunification set forth by the President, and thus ushered in a new era of the movement for Korea's reunification advancing under the banner of By Our Nation Itself.
