"Aegukphul", High-yielding and Nutritious Grass
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- A brisk drive for cultivating "Aegukphul", a high-yielding and nutritive feed crop for livestock, goes on in different parts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

According to Pak Hun, an official of the Ministry of Agriculture, "Aegukphul" bears 4-6 crops in a year and its per-hectare yield is several times higher than such existing species of feed grass as orchard grass and alfalfa. And it is propagated by root or stem.

This grass, 4-5 meters in height and 2-3 centimeters in diameter, grows 7-10 centimeters a day in June and July, the best time for its growth.

The grass can be used as fish food or substrate for cultivating mushroom as it contains rich crude protein and various microelements.

Kim Jong Un, supreme leader of the DPRK, named it "Aegukphul" in August last when he visited a farm cultivating it.
