Acts Contrary to Atmosphere of Improving North-South Relations Would Cause Only Catastrophe: Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- Provocative rackets against the fellow countrymen are being reported from south Korea on a daily basis at a time when the north and the south are stepping up the preparations for the reunion of separated families and relatives on the basis of bilateral agreement on it. This can not but be a serious development arousing skepticism about the south Korean authorities' willingness for the improvement of the north-south relations, says Rodong Sinmun Sunday in a commentary.

Now is the time for the north and the south to set store by the hard-won opportunity for national reconciliation, refrain from provocative words and acts that may rattle the nerves of the dialogue partner and stir up the atmosphere of dialogue and cooperation to realize the desire of the nation for peace and reunification, the commentary notes, and goes on:

But the south Korean authorities are talking volumes about dialogue and improvement of the north-south relations but are making no scruple of making provocative remarks and perpetrating hostile acts, revealing their sinister confrontational intention.

This leaves us skeptical as to whether south Korea was sincere when it reached a crucial agreement on detente and improvement of the north-south relations with the DPRK at the recent north-south high-level urgent contact, and compels us to think over to what point it seeks to lead the relations.

The north and the south reached a good agreement to settle the touch-and-go situation and achieve dialogue and cooperation but this does not mean it leads to the improvement of the relations of itself.

To look back on the inglorious history of the north-south relations, any provocative act against the dialogue partner can derail the process for the implementation of the agreement in a moment.

Acts going against the improvement of the north-south relations are bound to bring a catastrophe.
