DPRK Strives to Improve Higher Education System
Pyongyang, September 23 (KCNA) -- A work has been conducted in the DPRK to readjust its higher education system under the Workers' Party of Korea's far-reaching plan for turning the country into a power of talents.

The Ministry of Higher Education under the Education Commission took steps for all universities and colleges to set in a scientific and realistic way their targets for training talents.

School system, faculties and chairs were readjusted at universities and colleges across the country and a new education program worked out. In the course there appeared a lot of new subjects, including subjects on ultra-modern science, at scores of universities.

Kim Il Sung University and Kim Chaek University of Technology developed in depth their education system in such a way as to help train academic and practical talents.

Meanwhile, regional and sectional universities were set up and colleges attached to some universities or turned into vocational schools. The study-while-working educational system grew in scale and the tele-education system run by major universities was expanded to give higher education to more working citizens.

Also a work goes on to readjust the system and structure for guiding educational administration.
