Pyongyang Ophthalmic Hospital
Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Ophthalmic Hospital in the DPRK has made signal achievements in treating ophthalmic cases since its birth ten years ago.

According to Director Ryu Un Hui, the hospital recently cured more than 40 little patients through the application of a special strabotomy method.

And it succeeded in restoring high myopia cases to normal sight by introducing phakic iris claw intra-ocular lens operation method.

It also applied advanced laser therapy and stem cell transplant operations in treating cataract and glaucoma cases.

Kim Man Sok, section chief of the hospital, told KCNA that the hospital has cured more than 600 patients by means of peculiar vitreous retina operation.

The hospital provides by itself medicines and medical apparatuses, including artificial crystalline lens, while strengthening cooperation with other countries and international bodies.

The universal, free medical care has been enforced in the DPRK since 1952.
