The implementation of the agreement is by no means a smooth sailing. The birth of things new is bound to be accompanied with difficulties. If the north and the south remain true to the spirit of the agreement reached between them and have will to part with the inglorious past, they can surely write a new history of bilateral relations, meeting all challenges.

It is necessary to advance in the constructive direction of defusing mistrust and confrontation between compatriots and developing the inter-Korean relations for reunification. This is the patriotic way the north and the south should choose for the destiny of the nation and the bright future of a reunified country.

It is the unanimous desire of the Korean nation for both sides to refrain from standing in confrontation but pool efforts to open up a new avenue for reunification. The nation has ability to do so.

The world is steadily advancing. The north and the south should no longer waste time and energy because of meaningless disputes and unimportant matters. The hearts of the Koreans bruised due to the division of the nation after the country's liberation do not allow such practice.

The north and the south have good experience in which they opened up an epochal phase of national unity and the improvement of the north-south relations, away from mistrust and confrontation for reunification.

All the Koreans require the north and the south to positively create a constructive atmosphere of improving the inter-Korean relations on the basis of the precious experience of history and a bitter lesson drawn from the situation.

If they actively respond to the nation's expectation and trust with a patriotic decision, the recent agreement is sure to bear good fruits.
