TASS Introduces Arch of Triumph in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- TASS of Russia introduced the Arch of Triumph in the DPRK on August 29, conveying the news of the release of a DPRK-Russia joint stamp.

Noting the Russian Federation and the DPRK released a joint stamp to mark the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, it said the Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang was depicted on the stamp.

It continued:

The Arch of Triumph is located at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang.

The granite-made monument is 60 meters high and 50.1 meters wide.

It is one of the monumental edifices in Pyongyang and has drawn a lot of people.

The edifice was built on the initiative and under the guidance of leader Kim Jong Il in April, 1982 on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The President who liberated Korea by leading a protracted anti-Japanese armed struggle to a victory made a historic speech upon his triumphant return to home.

The immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung" is engraved on it.

It also bears "1925" and "1945", the years when the President embarked on the road of revolution and returned home after liberating Korea.

Mt. Paektu, the holy mountain of the revolution, is depicted on either side of the monument.

Though Kim Il Sung passed away, the Korean people is holding him in high esteem as the eternal President of the DPRK.
