The championships held in Plovdiv City of Bulgaria from August 24 to 30 brought together more than 380 men and women players from 81 countries.

The DPRK team took the first place in the men's and women's team pattern competitions, team sparring matches and self-defense matches.

Gold medals went to Ri Chung Il and Han Song Min in the men's individual first and second degree pattern competitions, Rim Wi Sok in men's 64kg individual sparring matches, Kim Su Ryon in the women's individual second degree pattern competitions and women's 75kg individual sparring matches, Kim Hyang Sim in the women's individual third degree pattern competitions, Ri Un Jong, Sin Jong Hwa and Choe Su Ryon in the women's 45kg, 69kg and 75kg and above individual sparring matches and Kim Il Hwa in women's individual special technique competitions.

DPRK players came second in men's and women's team special technique competitions.

Sin Jong Hwa and Kim Hyang Sim bagged silvers in the women's individual fourth degree pattern competitions and women's 57kg individual sparring matches.

Meanwhile, Kim Chol Hak, Han Song Min, Ri Hyon, Pak Mi Hyang and Hwang Su Yong won bronzes in men's 50kg, 78kg and 85kg and above individual sparring matches and women's individual first degree pattern competitions and women's 51kg individual sparring matches.
