Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties between DPRK and Cuba Marked
Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- There took place a meeting at the Chollima Hall of Culture on Tuesday to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Republic of Cuba.

Invited to the meeting were German Hermin Ferras Alvarez, Cuban ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy.

Present there were Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission who is chairman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with Cuba, Sin Hong Chol, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, So Ho Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, officials concerned and citizens.

Kim Sung Du in his speech said the Cuban people have firmly protected the sovereignty of the country and successfully pushed forward the revolution and construction despite the U.S. persistent moves to isolate and stifle Cuba under the correct leadership of respected Comrades Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz.

He said that the Korean people will as ever regard the Cuban people as the close comrades-in-arms standing together in the forefront of the struggle against imperialism and the U.S. and work hard to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

The Cuban ambassador in his speech said President Kim Il Sung extended unsparing support and encouragement to Cuba at the crisis of Caribbean Sea. He noted that the friendly relations between the two countries forged and developed by the preceding leaders are further developing thanks to Marshal Kim Jong Un.

He hoped that the Korean people will attain the goals for building a thriving nation and achieve the reunification of the country and that the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries will further develop.
