Room Built at Cuban Embassy in Pyongyang to House Car Sent by Kim Il Sung as Gift
Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- A room was built at the Cuban embassy here to house a car sent by President Kim Il Sung as a gift.

Kim Il Sung who paid deep attention to the development of the friendly relations with the Cuban people sent the car to the first Cuban ambassador to the DPRK as a gift in Juche 51 (1962).

In order to hand down his noble internationalist obligation, the Cuban government made sure that the car was preserved at the embassy in its original state on the occasion of the Day of the Sun in 1999.

The embassy has preserved the car so far with much care and built a room for housing the car this year, the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, true to the intention of the government and the people of Cuba attaching great importance to the development of the traditional friendly relations with the DPRK.

An inaugural ceremony took place on Monday.

Present there on invitation were DPRK Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong, Pak Kun Gwang, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Sim Kuk Ryong, general director of the General Bureau for Affairs with Diplomatic Corps, So Ho Won, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and officials concerned.

On hand were German Hermin Ferras Alvarez, Cuban ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy.

The ambassador in a speech said that the room serves as a symbol of the particularly close friendship and solidarity between Cuba and the DPRK.

He expressed belief that the car would be permanently preserved at the embassy to show younger generation the indestructibility of the friendly relations between the two countries.

The participants looked round the car.
