This reflected his will to strengthen the army and lead the revolution and construction in reliance on it.

He had steadily covered the road of Songun leadership for several decades with this will.

His Songun leadership developed in depth on a higher stage in the mid-1990s.

Under his Songun leadership, the military power of the DPRK was bolstered up in every way, to thoroughly foil the moves of the imperialists for aggression. In other words, Korean socialism was firmly defended.

That is why the Korean people regard the day when he started the Songun leadership as the historic day to go down in the history of the country and significantly celebrate the day every year.
