Teaching Staff and Students of Japanese Universities Oppose Security Bills
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Opposition to the authorities' push for security bills is mounting among teaching staff and students of Japanese universities, according to Yonhap News of south Korea on August 23.

Nagoya University formed an organization opposing the bills on August 5 comprising about persons 150 including renowned professors.

Supporters reached 420.

Kyoto University arranged a meeting opposing the bills sponsored by its teaching staff last month, eliciting support of some 2 200.

Universities that voiced opposition to the security bills numbered approximately 90 as of August 22.

Professors and students are setting up new homepages, expanding activities against the bills.

A professor of Doshisha University affiliated to the Society of Scholars against Security Bills decried the bills, saying they can scrap the constitution. He clarified students and scholars are raising their voices critical of the bills because they felt that democracy in Japan is getting questionable.
