S. Korean Organization Accuses U.S. of Turning Jeju Island into Arsenal

Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- The Citizens Solidarity for Democratic Society in a recent statement accused the U.S. of turning a naval base on Jeju Island into a U.S. military base.

The statement recalled a media report that the former commander of the U.S. naval force present in south Korea had said that he hopes the U.S. navy would send warships to the Jeju naval base.

What the former commander said proves that the U.S. tries to turn the Jeju naval base into its military base, the statement said, adding:

Jeju Island is bound to be a war arsenal of the U.S. as the naval base on it will be used by the U.S. forces.
