Nigerian Figure Welcomes Setting of Pyongyang Time
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Ibrahim Mantu, member of the Credit Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria who doubles as chairman of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association, issued a statement on Aug. 14 in support of the setting of Pyongyang Time.

He went on:

The Japanese imperialists occupied Korea illegally and imposed unspeakable miseries and pain upon the Korean people by enforcing the baneful colonial rule over it and committed such unpardonable crimes as depriving Korea of even its standard time, being keen on the policy of obliterating the Korean nation.

The DPRK set the time at 127 degrees 30 minutes of east longitude as the standard time of the DPRK and named it Pyongyang Time on the occasion of Aug. 15, the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation and 70 years since Japan's defeat. It was an event of historical significance in eliminating the remnants of the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule.

We positively support the renewing of Pyongyang Time in the DPRK in reflection of the firm faith and will of the Korean people to eliminate the Japanese imperialists' remnants and firmly defend the sovereignty of the nation.
