Koryo Songgyungwan University in DPRK Strives to Improve Its Features
Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Koryo Songgyungwan University in the DPRK strives to improve its features as an educational unit training the talents conducive to the development of the country's light industry.

The university in Kaesong City, which developed from the historical Koryo Songgyungwan Academy after President Kim Il Sung visited it in May Juche 81 (1992), consists of such faculties and courses as Koryo insam, ceramics, textile and embroidery.

In recent years it has concentrated its efforts on establishing the system of training talents suited to the era of knowledge-based economy and the global trend of educational development.

Its new school buildings were built in Korean style in 2012, with a total floor space of 19 700 square meters.

The university pushed ahead with a work to put the education on an IT basis and set up new subjects.

And a signal progress was witnessed in improving the educational conditions and environment.

The teachers and researchers of the university have made valuable achievements helpful to the development of the nation's light industry.

They include a new insam-processing technique that helps keep raw insam for more than one year.

They also succeeded in further raising the quality of Kaesong Koryo Insam Liquor.
