Anniversary of Korea's Liberation Celebrated in Britain
Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- Meetings, photo and book exhibition and concert were held by political parties and organizations of Britain in London on August 8 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

On display at the venue of the events were photos documenting President Kim Il Sung's exploits for national liberation.

Also displayed there were books introducing the personality of the peerlessly great persons of Mt. Paektu.

Present there on invitation were figures of the New Communist Party of Britain, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain (Marxist-Leninist), the Socialist Labour Party of Britain, the Korean Friendship Association UK and other political parties and organizations, and masses.

The DPRK ambassador and members of the embassy in London were invited there.

Andy Brooks, general secretary of the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Britain, said that it is of weighty significance for the representatives of progressive parties and organizations in Britain to meet to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation at a time when 70th anniversaries of the end of the Second World War and the Japanese imperialists' defeat in the East are celebrated worldwide.

Dermot Hudson, chairman of the Korean Friendship Association UK, said that Kim Il Sung achieved the historic cause of national liberation through armed struggle, holding aloft the banner of the Juche idea, Songun idea, setting a genuine pattern for the progressives struggling for independence of the country and new society against imperialism.

The representative of the Socialist Labour Party of Britain noted that the DPRK set new standard time and named it Pyongyang Time, a step for totally eliminating the remnants of the Japanese imperialists. This once again showed to the world its independent stand, he stressed.

Among the numbers of the concert were Korean songs and revolutionary songs of Britain.
