It was co-sponsored by the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Korea-New Zealand Friendship Association.

Displayed at the exhibition hall are photos showing the landscape of the three thousand-ri land extending from Mt. Paektu to Mt. Halla on Jeju Island.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, Song Ja Rip, vice-president of the Grand People's Study House, Pak Kyong Il, chairman of the Korea-New Zealand Friendship Association, officials concerned, working people in the city, Roger Shepherd, managing director of Hike Korea, delegations and delegates to the international solidarity event for celebrating the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, foreign diplomatic envoys and staff members of foreign embassies here and overseas Koreans staying in the homeland.

Speakers said that Mt. Paektu is the holy mountain of the sun and the ancestral mountain of the Korean nation where President Kim Il Sung led the 20 year-long anti-Japanese war to victory to achieve the historic cause of national liberation and leader Kim Jong Il was born and nurtured the grit and spirit as the illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu.

Great Paektu Range is symbolizing the homogeneity of the Korean nation, they said, adding Korea will be surely reunified.
