The statement said that August 15 is a significant day when President Kim Il Sung, legendary hero of the Korean nation and invincible and iron-willed commander, liberated Korea seven decades ago.

It went on:

The President waged a protracted armed struggle against the brigandish Japanese imperialists armed to the teeth, liberating the country.

The great anti-Japanese war led by him proved the truth and justice of the Juche idea and Songun idea.

Thanks to him, the Korean people became the master of the country and their destinies.

Korea's liberation was a historic event which greatly inspired the world oppressed people in their struggle for independence and national liberation.

It also proved the truth of history that national independence can be achieved only through an armed struggle.

The revolutionary cause of Juche and Songun, pioneered by the President, were creditably carried forward and developed by leader Kim Jong Il and they are now making dynamic advance along the road of victory under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
