Japanese Government Urged to Redress Its Past Crimes
Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Akida Prefecture, Japan and Japanese citizens demanded the Japanese government redress its past crimes while disclosing those crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists.

A memorial service was held in Yokode City on June 20 for the Korean victims who were forcibly drafted by the Japanese imperialists to do slave labor at the Yoshino Mine.

Kim Hyo Min, chairman of the Akida Prefectural Headquarters of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, in a memorial address said that the remains of the Koreans who died a grievous death after forcible drafting are buried until today greeting the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, adding that the Japanese government is wholly to blame for this.

A memorial service for Korean victims took place in Yamamoto County on July 11.

The representative of the Akida Prefectural Fact-Finding Group for Probing the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans said that the group conducted brisk survey which resulted in confirming the fact that more than 14,300 Koreans were forcibly drafted in 79 places of the prefecture.

The representative said that the group would steadily push forward its survey and invite notably young people to take active part in the activities and urge the Japanese government to opt to redress its past crimes.
