World Diving Champion Welcomed upon Her Return Home
Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- DPRK player Kim Kuk Hyang returned home on Friday. She placed first at the diving women's 10m platform finals of the 16th FINA World Championships held in Kazan, Russia.

Kim and other players and coaches were greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Ri Il Hwan, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Hun, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, and officials concerned.

Sportspersons, people, youths and students, family members put garlands around their necks, congratulating them on their successes.

When the bus carrying them passed the midtown streets, Pyongyangites waved to them, congratulating them on their successes.

They laid bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill before paying tribute to them.

On the same day Kim was interviewed by media persons here at Kim Il Sung Stadium.

She said she could bag a gold medal for the first time in the world championships as she applied the superb sporting method of Korean style in each contest, true to the noble intention of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

She pledged to prepare herself as an ideologically and mentally and physically and technically strong player through intensive training and thus make a positive contribution to demonstrating the heroic spirit of Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea with gold medals in the future, too.
