Pyongyangites Welcome DPRK's First World Diving Champion
Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- Kim Kuk Hyang of the DPRK returned home on Friday after taking the diving women's 10m platform title at the 16th FINA World Championships.

People in the capital city of Pyongyang turned out in streets to give warm welcome to the country's first world swimming champion.

Kwon In Guk, a coach of the Jangsan Sports Team, told KCNA:

All the people in the country are delighted at Kim's success. It is another big stride toward the building of a sports powerhouse.

I will do my best to train my players to be world champions in skating and my players, too, are filled with determination to glorify the country with gold medals.

Choe Hyang Mi, an official of the Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory, said:

I'd love to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Kim Kuk Hyang again.

Her success evidently shows the validity and vitality of the Workers' Party of Korea's idea of attaching importance to sports.

I hope that my country's swimmers would win more gold medals in international tournaments.

Yu Jong Chol, a teacher of Kim Il Sung University, said that Kim's success gave strength and courage to him and his fellows in the education of rising generation and the scientific researches.
