DPRK Strives to Use Natural Energies
Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign has been conducted in the DPRK to develop wind, geothermal, solar and other natural energies.

In March when he toured Kumsanpho pickled-fish processing factory and fishery station under construction, supreme leader Kim Jong Un called for directing big efforts to solving the issue of electricity for production and living. And he stressed the need to build a wind and solar power station on Nunggum Islet.

True to his intention, officials and working people across the country turned out in a drive to meet the growing demand for power by use of natural energies.

A group of researchers of Kim Chaek University of Technology recently helped set up several wind generators in the Sepho area stockbreeding base.

Meanwhile, members of the February 17 Shock Brigade of Scientists and Technicians installed wind-driven water pumps with a large capacity in different parts of the stockbreeding base.

Wind and solar generators were installed at the Jangchon Vegetable Co-op Farm in Sadong District, Pyongyang.

In Rason City of the country, solar street lamps have appeared in ten major streets in recent five years.

The Ministry of State Natural Resources Development invented a new method for ensuring the geothermal cooling-and-heating system on a normal basis while preventing land subsidence.

This geothermal cooling-and-heating system was introduced to many units.
